A few years ago, I started throwing Halloween parties for my husband's family. I had planned on posting last year's party last year, because it was the day after Halloween. As I was planning this year's party I pulled the decorations from last year and decided to rearrange things a bit. Below on the left is last year's party and the right is a new set up for this year's backdrop. The only real change I made was to turn the "chandeliers" of last year into fringe this year. I made the "chandeliers" using the film out of a VHS tape and an embroidery hoop. The picture below demonstrates how I attached the film to the hoop. For the fringe, I busted out my sewing machine and some ribbon. I cut the lengths that I had used the previous year in half, then folded them in half again and layered 3 together as shown in the photo on the left. Then, using the sewing machine, I attached the shiny streamers to a grosgrain ribbon. As for the rest of the decor, I drew and cut the house silhouettes by hand, to save money, which took FOREVER! However, you can find 3 of them at Walmart for about $9. I wrote up a tutorial for the bats last year, which are really simple. The banner is pretty straight forward. I used a font entitled Hobo and some scrapbook paper I had in my stash. For more fun crafts, check out my Crafting page.
