Bubble Snakes

A couple weeks ago, I posted some Nature Bracelets that I made with my nieces. That same day we did the bracelets, we also made bubble snakes. I first saw this science experiment last March on a local show, Studio 5. Turns out, these are all over the web. There are tons of tutorials on how to make these fun bubble towers, probably because it is a cheap craft that keeps kids, young and old, entertained for quite a while.
Kit's Crafts - Bubble Snakes
Materials:
Empty Water Bottle for each child
*Thick terry cloth (or a sock will work)
Rubber bands
Knife
Scissors
Bubble Solution (Dawn plus water works great)
Wide Shallow Bowl

Directions:
Using the knife, puncture the bottle about 1/2" to 1" from the bottom. Use this hole to cut the bottom of the bottle off. Pull your thick cloth tight over the bottom then secure it with the rubber band.

Put the bubble solution in the shallow bowl. Place the cloth covered bottom in the solution, then blow through the bottle to create the snake.

Slow constant blowing works better than quick fast bursts.

You can dye the bubbles by putting food coloring on your cloth before dipping in the bubble solution.

*You need a thick cloth, we tried it with a thin cotton fabric to begin with and although some bubbles formed, it was hardly a tower.
